Hi, I'm Alan, I am a fully qualified Will Writer and Estate Planner.
My background is heavily rooted in financial services, and I've been working in the industry since 1994. I am fully qualified in financial services, and, through our Financial Services firm, I am authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Over the years, I've gained qualifications in lending and protection, later-life lending, and commercial finance.
In 2014, I became involved in Wills and Estate Planning, and it quickly became clear just how well the two areas work together.
Am I a Solicitor?
No, I'm not a solicitor.
It's a question I'm often asked, and the honest answer is that I don't need to be.
I am fully qualified to carry out estate planning activities, and my financial services background allows me to bring something a little different to the table.
You see, estate planning isn't just about legal documents. It's about people, families, finances, businesses, and making sure everything is structured properly for the future.
Solicitors are experts in legal matters, but they cannot give financial advice. For example, they cannot advise on insurance policies, protection products, mortgages, lending solutions, or business protection planning, they would simply advise you to speak with someone like, me.
If you're a business owner, there may be important considerations such as shareholder protection, director protection, key person cover, director loan protection, or ensuring the business can continue smoothly if something unexpected happens. These are areas where my financial services experience can add real value.
In many cases, a solicitor would need to introduce a regulated financial adviser to discuss these matters. By combining estate planning knowledge with over 30 years of financial services experience, I can help clients look at the bigger picture and identify opportunities or risks that might otherwise be overlooked.
Not sure where to start?
If you'd like a simple conversation about your plans and what you're hoping to achieve, I'd be happy to offer some guidance and a few practical pointers.
I'm not a salesman, and I won't try to sell you anything. In truth, I've never been particularly fond of salespeople myself.
What I am passionate about is helping people plan for life's unexpected events and, ultimately, that day that comes to us all.
With more than 30 years' experience in financial services, I can often spot gaps in people's planning that they may not have considered. Sometimes that's identifying areas where additional protection or planning may be needed. Other times, it's reviewing existing arrangements and highlighting policies or products that may no longer be necessary.
My role is simply to help you understand your options, identify any potential risks, and make informed decisions about what is right for you, your family, or your business.
If after a conversation you decide to do nothing at all, that's entirely your choice. At least you'll have a clearer picture of where you stand and whether there are any areas that deserve further consideration.
• There will never be a hard sell.
• If I don't believe you need something, I won't recommend it.
• If I do recommend something, I'll explain exactly why and how it could benefit you.
• You'll always get honest, straightforward advice. I'm not a salesman, and I've never been a fan of pushy or overconfident sales tactics. I believe in treating people the way I'd want to be treated myself.
• My role is to help you understand your options, identify any gaps in your planning, and give you the information you need to make the right decisions for you, your family, or your business.
If you'd like an informal chat, you're welcome to book a free 20-minute conversation. There's no obligation and no sales pitch—just a chance to discuss your situation and see whether I can help.
Thanks,
Alan
